43 months
the whole duration of the project
The details of the project
Following the successful tender the planning started subsequently in the January of 2014 and construction started in the August of 2014 after the authority had been obtained. The main stages of the project were

Preparation
-
Planning, creating the technical documentation
-

Obtaining the necessary licenses for constructing of the temporary storage
-
Construction, installation – Stage I
-
Installing technology support systems – Stage II

Test run and commissioning
-
Preparation of the implementation documents
The existing building containing dangerous materials had to be dismantled first, and then the utilities had to be moved and a new system had to be built. The construction of the storage chamber and the administrative building could be started subsequently. A 3500 m2 storage space and 900m2 of technological control area had to be built over 16 months. The radioactive waste is transferred by rail and is housed in special containers which are then put to their designated place with an automated crane system. Complying with the specifications, the storage space has closed ventilation and water treatment systems in addition to the radiation protection system which is an integral part of the existing control system of the power plant.
